There are a few things to check:

• Are you behind a firewall that may be blocking the connection
  
• Do you use a router? If so, have you enabled Passive Mode in the FTP Client?
  
• Double check your username and password
  
• Instead of connecting to your domain name, try using the IP address sent to you in your welcome e-mail
